Milos will always have a special place in my heart – it’s where I got engaged! This beautiful Greek island, part of the Cyclades, is nothing short of magical. You can fly to Milos from Athens, and the views from the plane are simply breathtaking. As you soar above the Aegean Sea, you’re treated to a stunning panorama of sparkling blue waters and scattered islands. It’s a fantastic way to start your journey.

Staying in Pollonia
For our stay, we chose Pollonia, a charming seaside village on the northeastern tip of the island. It’s the perfect spot to base yourself. We stayed at the far end of Pollonia beach, which was much quieter. It’s a short, leisurely walk along the beach to reach the tavernas and the local supermarket, making it incredibly convenient.

Dining at Rakomelo
One evening, we had dinner at Rakomelo, a lovely restaurant with amazing views and stunning sunsets. I highly recommend booking in advance because it’s quite popular. The combination of delicious food and a perfect sunset backdrop made it a truly memorable experience.

Exploring the Island by Car
Hiring a car for a day is a fantastic way to explore Milos. We set off to visit some of the island’s other gems.
First stop: Mandrakia, a picturesque fishing village that feels like it’s straight out of a postcard. We ate at Medusa, a quaint little spot where we saw freshly caught octopus drying in the sun. The seafood here is as fresh as it gets, and the laid-back atmosphere is delightful.

Sarakiniko Beach
Sarakiniko beach is another must-visit. This beach is like no other, with its unique white volcanic rock formations. It’s an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, and it’ll be much quieter at that time, too.

Exploring Plaka
Plaka, the island’s charming capital, is full of character. Be prepared to leave your car at the bottom and walk up some hills, but it’s worth it. The views from the top are spectacular, and the narrow streets are lined with beautiful, traditional buildings. We had a wonderful meal at one of the many tavernas – there’s no shortage of good food here.

Breakfast in Klima
We visited Klima one morning, a colourful fishing village known for its iconic syrmatas (traditional fishermen’s houses). We had breakfast at Astakas, and I can’t recommend it enough. It was much quieter in the morning, and the uninterrupted views were the perfect way to end our trip.

Whether it’s watching the sunrise at Sarakiniko or enjoying a meal with a view in Plaka, Milos offers unforgettable moments at every turn. If you’re planning a trip to Greece, make sure Milos is on your list – it’s a place where memories are made, and love stories begin.
