If you’re dreaming of a getaway that combines relaxation, adventure, and incredible food, look no further than the northeast coast of Corfu. This stunning part of the island is packed with charming villages, beautiful beaches, and tavernas with views for days.
Nisaki: Hidden Treasure
We start our journey in Nisaki, a small village that’s kept its authentic charm. The beach is perfect for a quiet swim, and the snorkeling is top-notch. Vitamins Taverna is a local favourite. Their stifado, a traditional Greek stew, is the perfect comfort food to start your culinary adventure.
Agni: Foodie Heaven
Next along the coast is Agni, a food lover’s dream. It’s famous for its trio of exceptional tavernas. For a romantic dinner, Toulas is unbeatable. The sea bass and lobster pasta here are legendary. Enjoy your meal on the terrace right by the water, with the waves providing a soothing soundtrack. Many of the tavernas at Agni provide a water taxi service from many of the surrounding bays (for a small charge), just be sure to book in advance! You could also give George’s boat taxi a text, you’ll see his boat flitting from bay to bay each day.
Kalami: Where History Meets Beauty
Drive a little further north and you will reach Kalami, a picture-perfect village tucked into a serene bay. It’s known as the home of the Durrell family, and as you wander through, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a scene from a novel. You absolutely have to dine at The White House Restaurant—yes, it’s the former home of Lawrence Durrell himself. The seafood is insanely fresh, and watching the sunset from here is pure magic. For some local charm, head to Thomas’s Place on the beach and be sure to order the oven potatoes with your main, they are cooked in fat and roasted to perfection.
On the way down to Kalami, you’ll find the turning to Koulora bay, one of our favourite beaches. Parking can be a little tricky so if you’re staying in Kalami it might be worth walking down there. If you do, you’ll find a charming taverna overlooking a harbour, which looks out to a quiet beach surrounded in lush greenery.

San Stefanos: Quaint and Cosy
Beyond Kalami, you’ll find San Stefanos, a charming fishing village with a relaxed vibe. The waterfront here is dotted with adorable tavernas and a couple of bars. Eucalyptus Taverna is my go-to for a special meal with a gorgeous view of the harbour. Fagopotion is one of our favourite tavernas in the area and we always visit when we stay. Get there early to nab a table for 2 on the jetty, where you can have a romantic meal for two looking over the water.
Kerasia: Peaceful Perfection
Next, head over to Kerasia, just a short drive from San Stefanos bay. This beach is perfect if you’re after some serious relaxation time and beautiful views. It’s pebbly, with crystal-clear waters that are perfect for a lazy swim. For lunch, Kerasia Taverna is the spot. Right on the beach, it offers tasty taverna fare with views of the sweeping beach. Trust me, you’ll want to linger here.

Avlaki: Active and Adventurous
Avlaki is perfect for anyone who loves watersports. Whether you’re into windsurfing, sailing, or just paddling around, this beach has it all. When you’re ready for a bite, Cavo Barbaro serves up delicious Greek and Mediterranean dishes under a beautiful old tree.
And here’s a tip: hire a boat and explore the beaches north of Avlaki. You’ll find secluded coves and pristine beaches that are only accessible by sea. Pack a picnic and make a day of it—pure bliss. San Stefanos and Kalami are the easiest spots to hire your boat from, they start at around €120 a day plus fuel for a boat that seats 8 people.
Kassiopi: Buzzing with History
Continuing north, Kassiopi awaits with its lively atmosphere and rich history. Explore the ancient castle ruins for some incredible views of the Ionian Sea. When you’re ready to eat, head to Trilogia Restaurant. Perched above the harbour, it offers gourmet dishes with a Mediterranean twist. The lamb chops and seafood risotto are must-tries. If you’re looking for a more casual meal, Kassiopi has some of the best souvlaki grills around. I’d recommend Thraka Greek BBQ, which is just off the main harbour. Finally, if you’re looking for a cornucopia of greek pastries, sweet and savoury, then head to Nicolas Bakery on your walk out of the main part of town.

The northeast coast of Corfu is an absolute paradise and one I’m hoping you will have the delight of visiting one day. Each village and beach offers its own unique charm and character, making this part of the island perfect for a rich, varied holiday. Whether you’re basking on a secluded beach, delving into history, or indulging in mouth-watering Greek cuisine, you’ll find the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure here. So pack your bags, rent that boat, and get ready for a fabulous holiday!
